The water in the machine changes to the identical color regardless if your feet are in it or not. I set the machine up and had to do something in the other room. I came back 20 minutes later and the water was brown. I emptied it and set it up again (cleaning it completely), putting my feet in it the water was the same identical color and smell it was when there was no feet in it. I felt no more relaxed than if I had soaked my feet in epsom salt. I have done one of these at a spa with a high grade machine and there was considerably more change in color and smell of the water.
