After years of using an HP Sprague Rappaport, it became apparent that I needed a new scope. To my horror, not only had HP sold it to Phillips, but Phillips had discontinued it 6 years ago and no parts were available.

As a family physician in full time practice , a team physician , working urgent care several times a month, serving with Medical Reserve Corps and Urban Search and Rescue, I need a scope that meets some stringent requirements:

1) The acoustics have to be outstanding and equivalent to the HP.

2). It has to perform well and survive in a variety of service environments, both noisy and quiet, clinic and urgent care / ER / field.

3). It must be easily portable.

4). It must be from a reputable company that would stand behind their work and would provide service and parts for the lifetime of the scope.

5) It must be a reasonable cost.

Having thought through these requirements, I tried 2 Sprague types that were on the market and was disappointed. The acoustics simply were not what I needed. To be fair, I did not try the MDF Sprague with the X design.

My colleagues raved about the Litmann Cardiology 3. I found that to be costly, but more importantly, the acoustics were simply inferior to my HP Sprague ( as an older MD with tinnitus, the Cardiology 3 did not work).

Finally , I came across a company I never heard of , MDF. After researching out the company and scopes, in sheer desperation I decided to try the ER Premier scope. When I compared it to the HP Sprague and the Litmann, it was the equivalent of the HP, the Litmann being a very distant 3rd place. Having used it now for a month in various settings, it meets my requirements superbly . The cost is reasonable ( particularly if you buy it through Amazon ). The company is sound and has a good track record for service and provides parts for the lifetime of the scope. AND-- I don't have to go with the electronic scopes !

I loved this detox cleanse! I had been wanting to do a cleanse for a long time but was scared to do a juice fast or a laxative diet because I have a sensitive stomach. After months of just eating junk, not working out, drinking too much, and not getting enough sleep, I felt like it was time to get my act together.

I found Kaeng Raeng from a friend who had re-tweeted a Lauren Conrad tweet about it. I've now done Kaeng Raeng 3 times and can honestly say it is one of the best ways to reset your eating habits and jumpstart weight loss. I'll share my experience with the first time doing the cleanse...

I ordered the 3-day Beginner program the first time around - but I've since moved up to the 3-day Veteran (which I recommend you do if you've done a cleanse before since it'll be more effective). I was really motivated when the package came and it said you could eat raw food on the program. I stocked up on some of my favorite fruits and veggies. I had read on their web site to ease into the cleanse, so for the three days leading into the program I slowly cut out meat, dairy, and carbs. Honestly before I even started the cleanse I was noticing a difference. I didn't realize how much sodium I ate on a regular basis - so just eating clean was a huge wake up call.

I made the first shake on a Wednesday morning. I had decided to do it over a break I had from work, but honestly I could have done this and gone to work just fine. I made the "daybreak" smoothie with just cold water. It tasted fine and was really filling, but was a little bland for my liking. I definitely have a sweet tooth, so I emailed customer service and asked what I could do to make it more palatable. They got back to me immediately and were really nice! They said I could mix the shakes with mostly water and a little juice or frozen fruit for added sweetness, but to not overdo it. The packets have so much fiber in it that a little extra sugar wouldn't ruin the effects of the cleanse.

That day for lunch I had the "into the blue" flavor which was honestly my favorite. The customer service girl said it would be as it's their "sweetest" flavor - probably from the banana. I decided to bust out the old blender for this one and threw in a half a cup of frozen blueberries and a splash of OJ with the water and packet. WOW. It basically tasted like an orange blueberry smoothie.

The shakes are super filling, and if you feel hungry or the need to eat, it's probably all psychological. I sat watching some TV that evening and all I could think about was food - all the TV commercials, all the trips I would have taken to the fridge or to the market around the corner. It's amazing how much we mindlessly eat. Even in the first day, I was already more cognizant of my food choices and already affected by the cleanse.

I had the "joyful" flavor for "dinner" and only drank about half of it. I decided to snack on raw carrots and grapes too because I was yearning for the need to chew something. I decided to go to bed super early so I didn't end up cheating on the cleanse.

At this point, the cleanse seemed fine - I wasn't really experiencing any major detox symptoms, the shakes were great, and yes, they do make you go to the bathroom. But I never felt like I had to go uncontrollably or that I was feeling sick. Until the next morning. I woke up with an awful headache and nauseous. I was panic stricken over whether the cleanse was making me sick so I turned to their web site. All of the info said these were normal detox symptoms and to stick it out. My body was experiencing withdrawal - not from drugs, but from the chemicals and additives, sugar, salt, and empty junk I had been putting into my body.

I had my first drink and still felt nauseous. But it was the same kind of nauseous you get when you haven't eaten enough or take a multivitamin without enough food, so I just sipped my smoothie slowly and started to feel better. But the headache was BAD! I also felt a little bloated and had some abdominal cramping later that afternoon, so instead of just emailing customer service, I decided to give them a call. The customer service girl was really nice and thought I was experiencing caffeine withdrawal and I was dehydrated. She asked if I'd consumed my usual intake of water in addition to the shakes. Whoops. I had not, and dehydrated I was! After gulping down a bunch of water, I immediately felt better. By the early evening the headache and bloating were both gone. I'm not a regular coffee drinker, but apparently even the occasional green tea can give you withdrawal headaches. The customer service girl said it was OK to have plain green tea if I needed it, but I wanted to go caffeine free. I decided to head to bed early again on day 2, but it wasn't to avoid the temptation of junk food. By this point, I was feeling good, and in control.

I woke up on day three better than the day before, but definitely missing pancakes and bacon and everything unhealthy. I decided to make my first shake a green smoothie by adding spinach and spirulina. Yum! With a little bit of juice, you can't taste the greens at all. I was feeling really full all the way until mid afternoon when I had my second shake. I couldn't imagine having a third so I emailed customer service again and they said it was fine to extend the last shake to the next day. I was already feeling leaner and cleaner. I had lost 3 pounds and my stomach was flatter, my clothes fit a little bit loser, and my tummy issues were feeling resolved.

On the morning of day four after my last shake, I felt great. I craved veggies instead of salt and wanted to keep the cleanse going. My skin looked INCREDIBLE. It's honestly true that a bad diet can ruin your skin, and mine was practically glowing from all the vitamins and nutrients I had been eating.

I've since done Kaeng Raeng two other times and I will continue to use it 3-4 times a year. I like that the program is easy to fit into your lifestyle and you can make the shakes however you feel like it. I liked that it was really filling and allowed for raw food, which saved me from cheating on several occasions. And I liked that it didn't have anything harsh in it, so you could totally do this and go to school or work (I will say that all the shakes plus water intake will make you urinate more frequently).

In the end I lost 5 pounds in the 3.5 days I did the program and I'm a fairly small female with only about another 5 pounds to go. Each time I keep the weight off for awhile, but mostly my eating habits are totally changed and I feel really excited to keep up my new ways. I strongly recommend this product! The people at the company are also really nice so if you have questions you should just email them. They were really honest and helpful and I think they really care that people like the product.

Nova Zoom 18 Rolling Walker, Pink Review

I did a lot of research when I decided to purchase a 4-wheel rolling walker. I decided on this model for a number of reasons. First, it was reasonably priced...I do not know how long I will need the walker for and I didn't want to spend a fortune on one, especially sight unseen, but I also was looking for quality.

I am 5' 0" tall and I wanted something that would work well for a person my size. This exactly fits the bill. If the seat were any higher my feet would not touch the ground, but at 18" this seat is the perfect height. I would warn, however, that the description says this would be a good size for someone up to 5'4" and I find that hard to believe as I have the handles set at the highest setting for myself. So unless someone taller has really short legs I think they would probably be more comfortable with the next size up. But this one works perfect for me.

I was concerned that it would not fit through the doorways in my home after reading some other reviews online, but it goes through every door with room to spare, so I needn't have worried.

I was also concerned about the weight of this walker as it seems like no two places listed it as the same weight. I haven't weighed it myself, but I think it is about 15 lbs...maybe less...very manageable for me. I didn't feel like I needed something really heavy duty, but I also didn't want something flimsy. I think that once I am able to drive on my own again that I will be able to get this in and out of the car myself.

The seat is very well padded. I haven't had an opportunity to use it much yet, but it appears to be very comfortable.

I read some reviews that stated that you could not lock the wheels (or that they didn't know how) but this walker comes with a very easy instruction booklet that tells you very clearly how to lock the wheel. I find it very simple. Instead of pulling the brakes up like you would to break, you push them down.

The 8 inch wheels are great. We have a lot of uneven thresholds in my house so going into each room there is a bump, but this goes over them very smoothly and I don't feel unbalanced at all when going from one room/type of flooring to the next.

I love the pink color and am very glad that amazon still had one left in stock when I decided to make this purchase. Obviously the blue or red would have worked just as well but I am 27 years old and I figured I might as well get a fun color if I could.

The walker arrived exactly on time with the estimated delivery date. It was also VERY easy to put together. I cannot stand without holding on to something, but I was able to put this together without any trouble while sitting on the floor. The only pieces you need to "put together" are the back rest and the two handles, all of which just slide right into place. You have to adjust the handles to the correct height for yourself, but that is very simple.

And it works VERY well. It rolls very smoothly and I find that I am able to walk twice as far as I could with a 2-wheeled walker because I am not wasting energy dragging the walker along. I also walk with a much more normal step so that instead of taking one step, stopping, dragging the walker along the floor, and then taking another step...I am able to just take normal steps (one foot in front of the other) and push the walker along in front of me.

All and all I am VERY happy with this purchase as it fits my needs perfectly. I had to do a lot of searching to find decent reviews of this walker online so I wanted to make a point of writing one on amazon.com once I received mine.

Well, it works, but that's where the good news ends.

I got this today and immediately tested it using a 12VDC power supply
that I had from an earlier project. All segments worked and the light
quality was exactly what I wanted.

By the way, this strip, like all others I've used, wants a DC power
supply. It WILL work if connected to a 12VAC supply since an LED, like
all diodes, will function as a half-wave rectifier. However, this means
that only half of each AC cycle conducts and generates light, so it will
be half as bright as it should be and may even flicker to some eyes.

I verified this by reversing the DC leads and found that it conducts and
lights in only one direction. This is what I expected and is not a problem
since I ordered a little full-wave rectifier bridge from Amazon at the same
time.

However, it would be nice if this were documented somewhere, but NOTHING
is documented with this product, and THAT is the problem. For instance:

1. The Amazon site states that it requires 0.8 watts per foot which is
52 watts for a 65-foot rope. It would be nice if this were stated in the
documentation somewhere, but there is ABSOLUTELY no documentation in the box
and the only documentation on the box gives information like part number and
carton dimensions. Rather useless for the consumer.

2. It has an sticker pasted over the voltage entry, but it reads "12V" and
doesn't specify whether AC or DC. This is too important to leave out, since it
it makes a huge difference in power requirements. Since it works either way it
leaves me wondering what the manufacturer intended and whether my power
calculations are correct.

3. The box is so generic that there is no manufacturer listed and thus
no website to provide this information.

4. The Amazon site also states that it can be cut to length at ~3' intervals,
but without documentation it is unclear how and where, especially since it is all
enclosed in a protective tube. I've done this many times with non-enclosed LED
strips, but now I have to carefully and cautiously experiment with something that
should be obvious in the non-existant documention.

5. There are two accessory packages included. The first contains attachment
clips and doesn't really need instructions. The other contains parts which
appear to be for cutting and joining segments, but without documention it is not
yet clear how.

I'm a techie so I will find a way to make this work, but I would send it back
if I didn't have a lot of prior experience. I would never recommend this to a
friend as a do-it-yourself project. That's unfortunate since this could be a
five-star product with proper documentation. It appears to be a good product
suffering from a horrible delivery.
