Product Description

Applies safe compression to minimize hermarthrosis and swelling, and applies cold to minimize pain. The Cryo/Cuff is a three-part system. The cuff covers the area with pressurized ice water. The cooler holds enough water and ice for 6 to 8 hours of cryotherapy. Elevating the cooler forces cold water into the cuff. Compression is proportional to elevation. Body heat will warm the cuff within 15-30 minutes after initial application. The warm water is drained and rechilled by lowering the connected cooler to the floor for a couple of minutes. The cooler is then raised and water flows back into the cuff. The interval between cycles can be extended to an hour or so after initial cooling. Owners of the system can purchase additional cuffs (item 91-209) to be used and interchanged with the rest of the system, expanding treatment capabilities.

AirCast Compression System - Complete - Knee - Large Review

I was told that this product was recommended for ACL reconstruction surgery. Yet I almost didn't get it because of the price and because it would only be used for a couple of weeks. After speaking with someone else who had had the same surgery and found the cryocuff indipensable, I decided to get it.

Well it is two weeks after my surgery and there isn't a day that has gone by in which I have been extremely thankful I got it. You just put ice and water in it, fill the cuff up which straps to your knee, and leave it on. The ice only has to be put in once or twice daily which was really helpful for me since our freezer is downstairs (we only have an all-fridge upstairs) and I am home alone during the day recuperating. My husband fills it before he goes to work and when he gets home from work.

It is amazing for post-op swelling and pain. If I were to just use ice packs, as I did a year ago after the original ACL rupture, I would not be as diligent. But I keep this beside the bed and just pick it up when I need to drain the cuff, shake it around, and refill with cold water. And I can use it with or without my zimmer splint.

I plan on keeping it as it can likely be used for other injuries too. Fantastic product!
